How Long Does It Take?

  • Mail collected from these boxes is sorted and delivered the next University business day. First class mail collected from these boxes is processed and metered the day of deposit. To prepare mail for collection from these boxes, use budget number barcode labels.
  • Special service mail (USPS certified, insured, registered, and express mail; UPS, Airborne Express, DHL Worldwide Express, Federal Express.) will be processed the following business day after receipt.

United States Postal Service Mail is delivered in 24 hours or less. Note: USPS Express mail is not delivered directly by USPS but comes to Mailing Services for processing and delivery.

  • Private Carriers. Items from private overnight and package carries (Federal Express & UPS) are delivered directly when a complete delivery address (building and room number) has been provided.
  • Delivery to Olympia. Mailing Services provides daily mail delivery free of charge to Olympia for letters and packages addressed to zip code 98504 to box numbers in the 4 series (example: 45407). Mail is picked up daily between 12:30 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Campus Mail is for Official University Business

Mailing Services administers and manages the Campus Mail System to conduct the business of the university. Using campus mail to conduct personal business is not allowed. Incoming personal mail should be sent to private residences or Post Office Boxes. Note: misuse of university resources falls under the code of Ethics: Personal Use of State Resources and Conflict of Interest.

Mail Pickup and Delivery Service Outside Normal Service Zones

Mailing Services provides service to departments on the central, south, east and west campus, and to most outlying campus addresses. Contact Mailing Services with questions concerning mail delivery and collection.

Large Quantity Mailings

Mailings larger than 50 pieces need to be in box number sequence in ascending order. If you have large amounts of mail, contact our Mail Preparation department for assistance.
