Q-STEP Award

The Quality Staff Exceptional Performance Award (Q-STEP) is designed to recognize a colleague who meets the needs of customers and improves processes. The employee must demonstrate the following qualities and personal traits consistent with Financial Management's and Strategy Management's leadership values and qualities, and be committed to the vision and principles of the organization. In addition, the employee must understand and actively participate in quality improvement principles with a focus on work process improvements.

To meet the basic criteria, the nominee must have been a permanent full- or part-time employee in Financial Management for one year. The Q-STEP award recognizes employees who are:

  • Trustworthy
  • Committed
  • Trusting of Others
  • Collaborative

The recipient of this award will receive a wooden box with the first quality awarded engraved on a University of Washington seal attached to the top of the box. For each quality subsequently awarded, an engraved plaque will be added to the box. Qualities may be earned more than once, and each time one is awarded the date of the award will be added.

The award will be presented by Associate Vice President Ann Anderson, Sue Camber, or Ruth Johnston at a recognition ceremony. The recipient will also be featured in a Directions article.
