Recognition

Recognition

Maybe it was the chance to see and hear UW President Michael Young in person. Or maybe it was the Spirit Award Lunch. Or maybe the approximately 250 people who attended the 2012 Town Hall Meeting really did want to know more about what’s going on in Financial Management and Strategy Management these days. In any case, you all showed up!

The Recognition Quality Team has been busy organizing recognition events, reviewing awards and thinking of new and creative ways that Financial Management and Strategy Management can say ‘Thank You’ to our peers. FM/SM have continued to do their part by recognizing peers with 19 Bravos, 6 CARE awards, 32 recognition treats and 6 Team Spirits!

Recognition is the greatest motivator.” – Gerard C. Eakedale

Mr. Eakedale certainly knew what he was talking about! Recognizing your colleagues is a great way to say “Thank You” and to acknowledge a job well done. This past fall, Financial Management and Strategy Management did this by awarding 42 Recognition Treats, 19 Bravos, 9 CARE awards, 2 STARs, 1 LINQ and 5 Team Spirits to fellow colleagues. What are you waiting for?? Recognize someone today! http://f2.washington.edu/teams/rqt/

This year’s Bite of Diversity on June 2nd proved so popular that a second one was held on October 13th! The Diversity Team and the RQT Team collaborated to make these Bites a success, with great leadership from Jaeson Albritton.  The goal of the Bite of Diversity is to share your family’s heritage or culture with your coworkers. It is one of the most popular events within Financial Management/ Strategy Management (FM/SM) each year.
RQT Roundup – Summer 2011
Though summer usually brings a quiet lull to campus void of the big student masses, Financial Management and Strategy Management did not slow down with recognition of peers. Since April, FM/SM presented a LINQ Award, 5 CARE Awards, 20 Bravos, and 9 Team Spirits, including the FM/SM-wide Team Spirit held in May in the grassy knoll just south of the Purchasing/Accounting building. In late April, the Recognition Quality Team (RQT) also brought back the new and improved Recognition Treat!! This popular way to recognize your peer was used 220 times…yes, 220 Treats have been given since April!!

Since last December, Financial Management and Strategy Management have continued to say thank you to peers by presenting 2 QSTEPS, a LINQ Award, 10 Team Spirits, 2 CARE Awards, and 18 Bravos!  Way to go!!!  Remember to check out the RQT website (http://f2.washington.edu/teams/rqt/home) for some information on ways to say thank you for the great work you see around you and also to view some pictures from previous award events. Recognize excellence by saying Thank You to someone today!

Financial Management and F2 Admin/Strategy Management awarded  LINQ, QSTEP, STAR and Team Spirit recognition to many "TOP MODELS" over the past few months:

The 2010-11 Recognition Quality Team (RQT) term has been one marked by major changes to the RQT program. The first order of business was to change some RQT awards to comply with House Bill 2998, which, beginning last spring, prohibited giving cash or cash equivalents to state employees. Three types of RQT awards were affected by this change: the STAR, Bravo and Recognition Treat awards. All three awards were suspended by the last RQT team until new rewards could be decided upon. This is where the 2010-11 team took over.

As we in Strategy Management and Financial Management continue to learn how to “do more with less”, it becomes more and more important to recognize our peers for the exceptional work that they do. Teams all around SM/FM gather to improve processes, eliminate waste, and to add value to our work. Individuals go above and beyond by continuing to set examples of behavior and qualities that others should emulate.

Over the past fiscal year (June of 2009 to June of 2010), the Recognition Quality Team embodied the Financial Management (FM) and Strategy Management (SM) values of continuous quality improvement.  The team focused on improving their accounting reconciliation processes so that team members could spend more time promoting recognition and less time processing the awards.

Most notably the team did the following:
