Mission
The primary mission of the Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability Office is to provide a centralized focus for the coordination and promotion of the University’s vision, values, and direction for environmental stewardship through collaborative faculty, student, and staff efforts. The Office also provides support to the UW Environmental Stewardship Advisory Committee (ESAC).
Institutional Support
- University Policy on Environmental Stewardship , adopted July 2004
- Environmental Stewardship Advisory Committee (ESAC), chaired by Sandra Archibald, Dean, Evans School of Public Affairs. Charged in late 2004 with implementing the policy. Includes faculty, staff and students from all three campuses. Reports to President, Provost and Senior Vice President.
- American College and University Presidents' Climate Commitment (ACUPCC), founding signatory in 2007.
- Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability Office created in August 2008. The Office is housed in Finance & Facilities, within Strategy Management.
