Supplier Registration, Procurement Services
Date of Lean workshop:
July 26, 27 and 28, 2010
Problem Statement / Background:
Annually there are approximately 3100 new supplier registrations. It currently takes up to 30 days to register a new supplier and the roles and responsibilities of the registration process are not clearly defined and communicated.
The supplier/vendor registration process impacts customers, Purchasing Services, Payables, and Customer Service. It is critical to the procurement process from wing to wing. Orders cannot be set up or placed and payments cannot be processed until a supplier is registered in the data base. Risks include compliance issues, inaccurate reporting, contracting delays, payment delays, impact on customer and supplier relationships, etc.
Goals / Objectives
Suppliers are registered within 2 business days
Metrics / Measures:
- 30 day deliverables -- Communication is in the final draft stages ready to go out to all persons involved at a supervisory level (for review)
