Parent PLUS Loan Process

Loan Process

  1. Student accepts Parent PLUS award through the Office of Student Financial Aid.
  2. Parent borrower completes the loan application and returns it to the Student Fiscal Services Office.
  3. Parent signs an electronic Master Promissory Note (MPN) if the parent has not borrowed from the federal PLUS loan program before, or borrowed with an Endorser previously.
  4. The UW will request a credit check from the Direct Loan Servicer (which can take up to 15 days to receive.)
  5. If the credit check is approved, the loan will be ready for disbursement to the parent borrower (or directly to the student, if authorized by the parent borrower) once the academic quarter begins.
