The management of cash at the University of Washington is a critical function. The University receives over $3 billion in revenue annually. Although much of that comes via electronic payment methods (wires or ACHs), a significant amount of cash is still handled throughout the University. Student Fiscal Services is the University’s primary cash handling department. However, departments throughout campus collect various amounts of cash. Regardless of the size of a department or the amount of cash collected, a good internal control structure and proper cash handling procedure is important.
The term cash includes currency, checks, money orders, negotiable instruments and credit card transactions. This page provides the links to University policy/procedures with respect to the handling, receiving, transporting and depositing of cash.
