Managing your Records
Managing information can seem overwhelming, especially if you inherited a cabinet or closet full of boxes or binders, or an I Drive full of poorly labeled files. But don't worry, there are several easy steps that will enable you to get a handle on the problem and bring order to chaos.
Here are a few ideas to get you started.
- Start today!
- Pick one item/folder (just ONE!) and find a home for it, file it, delegate it, discard it (if the record has met the appropriate time on the Retention Schedule), store it.
- Spend 15 minutes a day focusing on just one topic/item/folder and you will find yourself managing your records!
Ready to construct a filing system? Follow these guidelines.
