Rush Orders are Now Possible with Fisher

We have exciting news…Fisher has added a rush shipment feature to their punch-out catalog.

Once you have added items to the cart and are ready to check out you will see a new box that states “Rush Shipment” and then in red “additional charges may apply”.  If “Rush Shipment” is chosen, the order will be handled differently than other orders so the shipment can be rushed through the system. 

Please note that the only way that Fisher can actually rush a shipment is if they receive the order.  For rush orders, it is critical that department approvals are accomplished as soon as possible.

Helium Supply Reductions

The University of Washington has been notified that Helium supplies will be restricted due to unexpected reductions in supply of crude and refined helium sources. The Bureau of Land Management recently notified Praxair that supplies will be restricted, and as a result, the University’s allocation of helium will be reduced to 80% of our average monthly volume. The 80% is being calculated by dividing the volume billed over the previous 12 months from May 2011 through April 2012. Allocation may be adjusted as circumstances change and Praxair will provide updates as information become available.

This short term contingency presents a challenge, so if departments could begin reducing Helium consumption it will lessen the impact of the shortage across campus. This contingency is expected to continue for the next 90 days and possibly longer.

VWR Best Buy List Saves Big Bucks

VWR, a long standing supplier in eProcurement, has over 6,500 VWR Collection Products in their portfolio. A quick look at the numbers from the last 12 months reveals that the UW could have seen savings of $56,362 or 37.3%, if end users had simply selected the VWR Collection alternative for the 68 specific products in this analysis.

Office Depot Named America’s Greenest Retailer By Newsweek Magazine For The Second Year

Office Depot, celebrating 25 years as a leading global provider of office supplies and services, today announced that it has been recognized in Newsweek magazine’s annual Green Rankings, as the greenest large retailer in America for the second year in a row.

Office Depot not only achieved the highest aggregate green score in the U.S. retail industry, but also led in Environmental Management, and disclosure of performance data. Across all industry sectors, Office Depot was ranked as America’s 8th greenest large company, a move up of 10 spots from last year, and was the only retailer in the U.S. top 10 list.  

Hewlett-Packard to Keep PC Division

After the announcement a couple of months ago, that HP was going to spinoff their Personal Services group (PSG), HP objectively evaluated the strategic, financial and operational impact of spinning off the Personal Systems Group (PSG). The deep data-driven analysis revealed the significant extent to which PSG contributes to HP’s supply chain efficiencies, distribution breadth, solutions portfolio and overall brand value. It’s clear that keeping PSG within HP is right for customers and partners, right for shareholders, and right for employees.
