Life Sciences Discovery Fund

Promoting health care research in the state of Washington

The Life Sciences Discovery Fund (LSDF) was formed by Governor Chris Gregoire and the Washington State Legislature to promote life sciences research and ultimately, the quality of health care in the state of Washington. As a completely new organization, LSDF required a logo, identity and web presence — all in a very short time period. The inaugural 2007 grant competition, which would select the first round of research awardees, needed to be promoted in order to gain a large pool of applicants.

Focusing on the benefits that LSDF brings to the state, we highlighted the ideas of science, health care, and community through richly colored photography contrasted against generous white space. The result was an overwhelming success — 102 letters of intent and 74 proposals were received and ultimately six grants were awarded.
